Presentation
Summary

Building Automation Systems & Cybersecurity

Building Automation Systems (BAS) increasingly rely upon the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and systems of the facilities and organizations they serve. The information and technology implicit within these IT systems are valuable assets that should be protected from vulnerabilities and threats. Because of the standardization of their integration, BAS internetworks should be providing protection schemes commensurate with, and adhering to, the standard security controls already established in the IT domain. Fundamental Engineering Principles for Information Technology Security (EP-ITS) established by public and private standards can be used to establish simple best practices for the secure design, development, and operation of an appropriately secured Building Automation System.
