Speaker(s)

Elyse Widin, P.E.

Elyse Widin is a Senior Design Engineer who has worked for 8 years designing HVAC and plumbing systems in projects in the Health Care (OSHPD 1, 3), Institutional Research, Biotech, Data Center, and commercial industries. She has experience in taking projects from the initial engineering design through construction deliverables and installation and through project turnover.  Her experience includes 3D modeling and coordination using tools such as Autocad, Revit and Navisworks.

She is a proponent of minimizing waste both in the field and in the digital realm by incorporating lean construction practices and implementing an efficient workflow between engineering, detailing and the field. Ms. Widin hopes that one day technology and industry practices will be so highly aligned and integrated that many of the roadblocks of efficient communication and smooth transitions between all phases of a project delivery will no longer be present.

Damon Chandler

As a constructability, BIM and sheet metal detailing lead, Damon Chandler has helped oversee preconstruction functions, including project coordination and BIM modeling, scheduling, manpower staffing, shop prefabrication, and on-time project delivery. Mr. Chandler's expertise lies in 3D CAD and BIM modeling. He also has extensive knowledge with integrated project delivery methods and lead construction implementation.

Presentation
Summary

Mr. Chandler and Ms. Widin have worked together for numerous years in the design build HVAC and plumbing industry for a wide variety of projects. In the presentation they hope to share their thoughts on the current state of BIM and where they see it going in the future to help further the ongoing discussion. They will share their lessons learned and current thoughts on how to best implement the best industry practices and BIM modeling tools to minimize rework and reduce mechanical and plumbing system installation time and costs.
