ASHRAE Winter 2018 Expo

Dear colleagues,

Although this is February Fog newsletter, we can’t forget our most successful ASHRAE Winter 2018 Expo on record few weeks ago in Chicago!

What a venue it was, full of people and excitement-hope you had a chance to see it live!

It was my first time too. No excuses, it has always been we are too busy therefore we can’t go. Will change your view of the engineering industry you are part of. You will meet people that write the ASHRAE journal articles. You will meet ASHRAE Fellows and dignitaries-on the other hand-the folks that manufacture and service the equipment you specify. You will maybe meet the engineer working on the M/P for the newest and largest Airport in the World, The Istanbul one. You will put many faces to many emails. Maybe you can learn that “Moi” means “hi” in Finnish. You will cheer and have fun with your network, both consisting of existing and new friends. In Chicago you will eat steaks and deep dish pizza’s-just kidding there is plenty of other good places for a meeting and delicious food and drinks.

You will represent your company and your society, not just yourself as individual! You will learn a lot, you will have a blast try it at least once, changed my view of what Expo may look like. Our GG Chapter will try to secure funds to send more students and local engineers to the future Expo’s.

2019 ASHRAE Winter conference will be in Atlanta-Jan 12–16, 2019. Book your calendars.

We had great feedback for Mr. Steve Taylor’s SF Moma presentation last month, we will post ppt pdf on our web for those that missed it.

We are looking for strong ideas on how do fundraisers. I’m tired of San Diego having always more, plus Borannie our RP Chair can use some help so please contact us if interested.

Our February meeting is joint meeting with the ASPE-SF “The Future of BIM from a Design Build Perspective”. Our GG President Elect and events Chair, Michelle Dionello has been working hard with Lindy Gibbons, VP Technical at ASPE-SF and many others to make this happen. We hope for more partnership with ASPE-SF and future joint meetings. Check ASPE-SF web below, I saw some familiar faces, few existing colleagues and friends of mine and potential new ones!

To remind ourselves and our goals from few years ago 2020 is approaching quickly and 2030 is not too far away.

No one is prepared, everyone is talking, what is your company doing to prepare for what’s coming to us water and energy wise?

See you all on Feb 15th at PGE, PEC!
